Chef Rafael Melendez received his first culinary experience from his mother, when he was a child growing up in the town of San Juan, Puerto Rico. He began developing his professional cooking skills upon his high school graduation, when he earned a Certified Chef degree from the respected Instituto de Educación Universal in Culinary Arts.
